Magnus Gisslén is professor of Infectious Diseases at the Sahlgrenska Academy at University of Gothenburg, Sweden. He shares his time between clinical work with HIV patients as head of the HIV unit at the Department of Infectious Diseases, Sahlgrenska University Hospital in Gothenburg, Sweden, and clinical HIV research. The main interest of his current research is HIV persistence and latent reservoirs, mainly focusing on the HIV infection of the central nervous system. He also serves as HIV consultant in 20 Infectious Disease Clinics around Sweden.
